Polyester net fabric Laid Scrims for Auto Industry Adhesive Tape
Polyester Laid Scrims Brief Introduction
This product is a Polyester Laid Scrim, a cost-effective, high-performance reinforcement fabric engineered specifically as the carrier / skeleton for automotive-industry adhesive tapes (foam tape, rubber & plastic tape, double-sided scrim tape, etc.). It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous polyester filament yarns into an open mesh construction (square or tri-directional), with optional binder systems (PVOH, PVC, Acrylic, or customized) to match different coating, laminating, and die-cutting processes used by automotive tape converters. Compared with glass-fiber scrims, the polyester version offers softer hand-feel, heat sealability, and better compatibility with acrylic / rubber-based PSA — critical when the tape must survive under-hood heat cycles, NVH cabin environments, and automated die-cutting / robotic placement on vehicle lines. The scrim is laminated between adhesive layers or embedded into the tape carrier to become the "hidden tensile grid" that prevents stretch, tear, and edge-lift during application and long-term service. The product is highly customizable, with roll widths from 200 to 2500 mm and roll lengths up to 50,000 meters, supporting high-speed, continuous automotive tape converting lines.
Polyester Laid Scrims Characteristics
Tailored for Automotive Tape Applications: The polyester scrim carries a property set purpose-built for adhesive tape carriers — tensile strength, tear resistance, heat sealability, anti-microbial properties, water resistance, self-adhesive options, eco-friendliness, decomposability, and recyclability.
High Strength & Ultra-Light Weight: Reinforcement comes at very low GSM. Regular automotive/tape-grade specs on this platform: CF12.5×12.5PH ~6.2–6.6 g/m², CF10×10PH ~8–9 g/m², CF6.25×6.25PH ~12–13.2 g/m², CF5×5PH ~15.2 g/m², with 12.5×6.25mm also available. High strength-to-weight ratio lets the tape carrier gain tear resistance and dimensional stability without bulking up the roll or hurting flexibility around curved trim / body flanges.
Wide Customization & Process Compatibility: Yarn types beyond polyester (Glass, Carbon, Kevlar, Nomex, Cotton, Flax, Jute, Viscose, etc.), constructions (square / tri-directional), patterns (0.8–3 yarns/cm), binders (PVOH, PVC, Acrylic, customized).

Polyester Laid Scrims Application
Primary Use: Reinforcement for Automotive-Industry Adhesive Tapes
The core and specialized application of this polyester laid scrim is as the hidden tensile skeleton inside automotive adhesive tapes — including foam tape, rubber & plastic tape, and double-sided scrim tape — used for interior trim mounting, exterior emblem attachment, weatherstrip bonding, NVH damping pads, wire-harness fixing, and light-seal/gasket positioning across passenger car, CV, and EV platforms. It is laminated between adhesive layers or into the carrier to:
Enhance Tensile & Tear Strength for Robotic Placement
Automotive tapes are often applied by robot arms at line speed, then subjected to door-slam, vibration, and thermal cycles (-40 °C to >100 °C under-hood). The scrim dramatically increases the carrier's resistance to breaking and tearing, ensuring the bond holds through vehicle lifetime.
Maintain Dimensional Stability Through Die-Cutting & Service
The scrim's low elongation prevents the tape from stretching when unrolled, die-cut into complex shapes (logo cutouts, curved washers), or loaded in shear — keeping the part's registered position on the trim/body flange.
Enable Clean Die-Cutting & High-Speed Converting
The open mesh structure allows clean, burr-free die-cutting of intricate tape shapes, while the scrim's flexibility ensures smooth unwinding on PSA coating and slitting lines, with minimal adhesive oozing or liner wrinkling.
Secondary Applications
Due to its versatile reinforcement properties and open mesh design, this polyester laid scrim is also extensively applied in other industrial sectors listed on the product page:
Aluminum Foil Composite
Used as a reinforcement layer in insulation and building wrap composites; roll lengths up to 10,000 m improve production efficiency and finished product appearance.
Non-Woven Category Reinforcement
Applied to fiberglass tissue, polyester mat, wipes, and top-end items such as medical paper — increases tensile strength with minimal GSM addition.
