    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Brief Introduction

This product is a Fiberglass / Polyester Laid Scrim — and in this listing, specifically the composite variant where the scrim is integrated with mat, tissue, or veil layers — engineered as the reinforcement skeleton for roofing waterproof membranes (modified bitumen, TPO, PVC, EPDM, and asphalt overlay systems). It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous filament yarns (glass, polyester, carbon, etc.) into an open mesh (square or tri-directional), and can be delivered as standalone scrim or pre-combined with fiberglass tissue / polyester mat / veil to form a composite carrier. Compared with using mat alone, adding the scrim layer gives the membrane multi-directional tensile, puncture resistance during installation, and dimensional stability under heat-gun torching, hot-melt paving, and temperature cycles — all critical for flat-roof, podium-deck, and below-grade waterproofing projects.

    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Characteristics

Roofing-Grade Material Properties:High tenacity, alkali resistance, dimensional stability, flexibility, low shrinkage, low elongation, fire resistance, and corrosion resistance — a profile that matches both bitumen-based and single-ply membrane chemistry, and survives hot-melt / torch-application temperatures without losing bond.

High Strength & Light Weight: Regular roofing/composite specs follow the platform: CF12.5×12.5PH ~6.2–6.6 g/m², CF10×10PH ~8–9 g/m², CF6.25×6.25PH ~12–13.2 g/m², CF5×5PH ~15.2 g/m², with 12.5×6.25mm also available. The high strength-to-weight ratio lets the membrane gain tear-propagation resistance and handling toughness without bulking up the roll or hurting cold-flex.

    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Application

Primary Use: Reinforcement for Roofing Membranes

The core and specialized application of this composite material is as a reinforcing scrim or layer within roofing membranes. These membranes are critical components for waterproofing flat or low-slope roofs in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The composite mat/tissue/veil/mesh is integrated to:

Enhance Tensile Strength & Tear Resistance

It dramatically increases the membrane's resistance to tearing, puncturing, and mechanical damage during installation and service life, ensuring long-term waterproofing integrity.

Provide Dimensional Stability & Prevent Shrinkage/Warping

The reinforcing layer counteracts the natural expansion and contraction of the membrane materials due to temperature fluctuations, preventing wrinkles, buckling, or joint failure that could compromise the roof's performance.

Improve Overall Durability & Weather Resistance

By adding a robust, weather-resistant layer, it extends the service life of the roofing system, protecting the building structure from water ingress and damage.

    Secondary Applications

Due to its robust and versatile reinforcement properties, this type of composite material is also extensively applied in other demanding construction and industrial sectors:

    Aluminum Foil Composite

Used as a reinforcement layer in insulation and building wrap composites, improving production efficiency and finished product appearance.

    PVC Flooring

Serves as a critical stabilizing layer in PVC flooring to counteract the thermal expansion and contraction of materials, preventing joint separation or bulging.
