    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Brief Introduction

This product is a Fiberglass Laid Scrim, a cost-effective, high-performance reinforcement fabric engineered specifically as the "S" layer in Aluminum Foil-Scrim-Kraft (A-S-K) and aluminum foil insulation composites. It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous E-glass filament yarns into an open mesh construction (square or tri-directional), with binder options (PVOH, PVC, Acrylic, or customized) to match different foil-kraft laminating and coating processes. In a typical A-S-K stack, the scrim is sandwiched between the aluminum foil face and the kraft paper / PET / fiberglass tissue backing, becoming the hidden tensile grid that turns a fragile foil-kraft laminate into a tear-resistant, dimensionally stable insulation facing.

    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Characteristics

Aluminum-Foil-Composite Adapted Properties:The E-glass scrim delivers high tenacity, dimensional stability, flexibility, low shrinkage, low elongation, alkali resistance, fire resistance, and corrosion resistance — a profile that matches both foil–kraft and foil–fiberglass-tissue laminates, and survives the heat, humidity, and alkaline substrate (concrete) conditions common to building wrap and duct insulation.

Long Rolls for Foil Lamination Lines: Roll width 200–2,500 mm; roll length up to 10,000 meters (page-stated regular supply). Fewer splices per shift on high-speed foil–kraft laminators, higher yield, fewer weak spots in finished rolls — the page notes non-woven laid scrim is widely applied in the aluminium foil industry and helps manufacturers improve production efficiency while giving finished products better appearance.

    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Application

Primary Use: Reinforcement for Aluminum Foil–Scrim–Kraft (A-S-K) and Aluminum Foil Insulation Composites

The core and specialized application of this fiberglass laid scrim is as the hidden "S" layer laminated between aluminum foil and kraft paper / PET / fiberglass tissue in building insulation facings, HVAC duct wrap, and roof/under-deck insulation. It is sandwiched into the foil composite to:

Prevent Tear During Handling, Cutting & Duct Wrapping

Aluminum foil alone tears easily when pulled over rigid ducts or cut on-site. The scrim absorbs handling stress and arrests any tear that does start, keeping the vapor barrier continuous — critical for insulation R-value and condensation control.

Improve Production Efficiency on Lamination Lines

Roll lengths up to 10,000 meters mean fewer splice stops on high-speed foil–kraft laminators, higher yield per shift, and more consistent batch appearance — directly supporting the page's note that most aluminium foil insulation manufacturers already adopt laid scrim for these gains.

    Maintain Dimensional Stability in Service

The scrim's low elongation and dimensional stability keep the foil-facing from cupping, wrinkling, or pulling fasteners loose as the assembly heats/cools or absorbs humidity — preserving lap-seal integrity on ducts and building wraps.

    Secondary Applications

Due to its versatile reinforcement properties and open mesh design, this fiberglass laid scrim is also extensively applied in other industrial sectors per the product page:

    PVC Flooring

PVC flooring is mainly made of PVC plus other necessary chemical materials via calendering or extrusion, divided into sheet and roller types. All major domestic and foreign manufacturers now apply laid scrim as the reinforcement layer to avoid joint separation or bulging between floor pieces caused by thermal expansion and contraction.

    Non-Woven Category Reinforcement

Non-woven laid scrim is widely used as reinforcement on kinds of non-woven fabric, such as fiberglass tissue, polyester mat, wipes, and top-end items such as medical paper — increases tensile strength with minimal unit weight addition.
