This product is a Triaxial Laid Scrim, a specialized and high-performance reinforcing fabric engineered for sail laminates and marine-grade composite structures. It is manufactured from continuous filament yarns (such as glass, polyester, carbon, or aramid) arranged in a tri-directional (triaxial) open mesh construction and chemically bonded at the intersections. This unique three-axis design provides balanced multi-directional strength and dimensional stability, which is essential for sails that must withstand complex, shifting wind loads without distorting or stretching. The triaxial structure eliminates the crimp found in traditional woven sailcloth, allowing the fibers to remain straight and carry load more efficiently. Designed for excellent compatibility with PET/PEN films and coating systems, it enables the production of lighter, stronger, and more aerodynamically stable sails.

Triaxial Construction for Multi-Directional Load Distribution:The defining feature of this scrim is its three-yarn-direction architecture (typically 0°, +60°, -60° or similar). Unlike biaxial (0°/90°) scrims, the triaxial grid distributes tensile and shear forces in three axes simultaneously, closely matching the real-world loading patterns of a sail (luff-to-leech, foot-to-head, and diagonal bias). This results in superior shape retention, reduced bias stretch, and improved tear resistance compared to conventional woven or biaxial reinforcements.
High Strength with Ultra-Light Weight:The triaxial laid scrim achieves significant reinforcement while adding minimal weight. Standard configurations range from 9–35 g/m² (e.g., CFT12×12×12PH at 9–10 g/m², CPT9×16×16PH at 30–35 g/m²). This allows sail makers to build laminates that are substantially lighter than densely woven sailcloth while meeting or exceeding tensile requirements, directly translating to faster boat acceleration and better upwind performance.
Superior Dimensional Stability & Environmental Resistance:The chemically bonded, non-woven construction provides low shrinkage, low elongation, and excellent dimensional stability under load. Additionally, the glass or aramid fibers offer inherent alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, fire resistance, and moisture resistance — critical properties for marine environments where sails face saltwater, UV exposure, and repeated flexing.
Excellent Bonding Compatibility & Customizability:The open mesh structure allows full bonding with almost any material (films, coatings, adhesives). It is highly customizable: roll width from 200 to 2500 mm, roll length up to 10,000 meters (reducing splices in continuous lamination), yarn options including glass, polyester, carbon, Kevlar, Nomex, and binder choices (PVOH, PVC, Acrylic, customized). Patterns can be tailored from 0.8 to 3 yarns/cm.

Provide Multi-Axial Strength Without Crimp
The straight, uncrimped fibers carry load more efficiently than woven yarns, resulting in a smoother sail surface with less aerodynamic drag and a higher strength-to-weight ratio.
Suppress Bias Stretch & Maintain Shape
The triaxial grid locks the sail's shape in all directions, preventing the diagonal stretching that causes sails to "bag out" over time. This ensures consistent aerodynamic performance throughout the sail's life.
Reduce Weight for Faster Performance
By achieving target strength at lower GSM, the scrim enables lighter sails that accelerate faster and point higher, particularly valuable for racing yachts and dinghies.
