This product is a Laid Scrim (glass, polyester, or hybrid), a cost-effective, open-mesh reinforcement fabric engineered for automotive undershields — the non-woven / GMT / PP-backed panel mounted beneath the engine bay and along the underbody to deflect stones, spray, and road debris while contributing to NVH damping and aerodynamic smoothing. It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous filament yarns (Glass, Polyester, Carbon, Cotton, Flax, Jute, Viscose, Kevlar, Nomex, etc.) into a flat-laid open mesh (square or tri-directional), then laminated into or between the non-woven / GMT / PP stack that forms the undershield substrate. Thanks to lightweight, high strength, low shrinkage/low elongation, and corrosion resistance, the scrim upgrades a limp or brittle substrate into a dimensionally stable, impact- and heat-tolerant composite that survives stone impact, underbody wash, road-salt exposure, and thermal/ vibration cycles (-40 °C to >120 °C near exhaust/engine zone).

Fully bondable with non-woven, GMT, PP, and resin systems common to automotive interior/exterior pressing lines; each roll length up to 50,000 m.

Add Stone-Impact & Underside Abuse Resistance
Undershields take constant gravel impact, road-salt spray, and occasional bottoming. The scrim adds multi-directional tensile and tear resistance at very low GSM, reinforcing the non-woven/GMT sandwich without thickening the tray or adding molded-in stress risers around clip/fastener bosses.
Maintain Dimensional Stability Through Exhaust-Zone Cycles
The scrim's low elongation keeps the undershield flat through press-forming, trimming, and road cycles (-40 °C to >120 °C near exhaust/engine zone, NVH vibration, car-wash / chassis-dyno loading), preserving fit against the underbody and preventing rattle or aeroshield flutter.
