Non-woven laid scrims laminated for flex duct packaging
Non-woven laid scrims Introduction
This product is a Laid Scrim (glass, polyester, or hybrid), a cost-effective, open-mesh reinforcement fabric engineered for lamination into flex duct packaging and HVAC flexible-duct composites — where the scrim sits as the hidden tensile grid between aluminum foil, PE, and non-woven / fiberglass tissue layers that form the duct facing or outer wrap. It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous filament yarns (Glass, Polyester, Carbon, Cotton, Flax, Jute, Viscose, Kevlar, Nomex, etc.) into a flat-laid open mesh (square or tri-directional), with binder options (PVOH, PVC, Acrylic, or customized) to match foil–non-woven laminating and flex-duct wrapping lines. Thanks to lightweight, high strength, low shrinkage/elongation, and corrosion resistance, the scrim offers measurable value versus conventional reinforcement concepts and bonds readily with many material systems common to flex duct and packaging converters.
Non-woven laid scrims Characteristics
Flex-Duct / Packaging Grade Property Profile: Dimensional stability, tensile strength, alkali resistance, tear resistance, fire resistance, anti-microbial properties, water resistance — the scrim survives the winding tension of flex-duct lines, the compression of packaged rolls, and the humidity/thermal cycles of HVAC service, while its low elongation keeps the foil-facing from cupping, wrinkling, or tearing at bends and fittings.
High Strength & Light Weight: The scrim is available in a range of regular mesh sizes and grammages covering the platform's common specifications (from fine to coarse grids, with regular supply grams 6.5g / 8g / 13g / 15.5g etc.), delivering high tensile and tear resistance at minimal added weight. It can be fully bonded with almost any material, and each roll length can reach 50,000 m to support continuous flex-duct and packaging lines.
Long Rolls for Flex-Duct & Packaging Lines: Roll width 200–2,500 mm; roll length up to 50,000 m. Fewer splices per shift on high-speed foil–non-woven laminating and duct-wrapping lines, fewer weak spots in finished flex-duct rolls and packaged insulation sets.
Non-woven laid scrims Application
Primary Use: Laminated reinforcement in Flex Duct & HVAC Duct Packaging
The core application of this laminated laid scrim is as the hidden tensile grid laminated between aluminum foil / PE face and the non-woven or tissue backing in flex duct jackets, duct-wrap facings, and insulated duct packaging sets. It is sandwiched into the duct composite to:
Prevent Tear During Duct Bending, Handling & Installation
Flex ducts are bent around elbows, compressed into cartons, and handled on-site. The scrim absorbs winding and handling stress, arrests tear propagation at seams and grommet zones, and keeps the vapor-barrier facing continuous — critical for HVAC thermal efficiency and condensation control.
Maintain Dimensional Stability on Wrapping Lines
The scrim's low elongation keeps the foil–non-woven facing flat through winding, compression packaging, and in-service thermal/humidity cycles, preserving lap-seal integrity on spiral-wrapped ducts and packaged sets.
Extend into Broader Packaging Composites
Beyond flex duct, the same laminated scrim platform also feeds envelopes, cardboard containers, transport boxes, anticorrosive paper, air-bubble cushioning, paper bags with windows, high-transparent films under the Packaging category — wherever a converter needs a lightweight tensile grid laminated into paper, film, or non-woven stacks.
Secondary Applications
a) Aluminum Foil Composite
Nove-woven laid scrim is widely applied in aluminium foil industry. It can help manufacture to develop the production efficiency as the roll length can reach 10000m. It also makes the finished product with better apperance.
b) PVC Flooring
PVC Flooring is mainly made of PVC,also other necessary chemical material during manufacture. It is produced by calendering, extrusion progress or other manufacture progress, it is devided into PVC Sheet Floor and PVC Roller Floor. Now all major domestic and foreign manufactures are applying it as the reinforcement layer to avoiding the joint or bulge between pieces, which is caused by the heat expansion and contraction of materials.
c) None-woven category products reinforced
None-woven laid scrim is widely used as reinforced materail on kinds none-woven fabric, such as fiberglass tissue, polyester mat, wipes, also some top ends, such as medical paper. It can makes none-woven products with higher tensile strength, while just add very little unit weight.
d) PVC Tarpaulin
Laid scrim can be used as basic materials to produce truck cover, light awning, banner, sail cloth etc.
Due to lightweight, high strength, low shrinkage/elongation, corrosion preventive, laid scrims offers tremendous value compared to conventional material concepts. And it's easily to laminate with many kinds of materials, this makes it has an extensive fields of applications.
