Non-woven laid scrims laminated for Kiteboards for reinforcement solutions
Non-woven laid scrims Brief Introduction
A laid scrim for kiteboard composites, part of the Sports category alongside sail laminates, table tennis rackets, and ski/snowboard sandwich technology. It acts as a hidden tensile grid laminated into or between the skin layers and core of the kiteboard sandwich. Made by chemically bonding continuous filament yarns into a flat-laid open mesh (square or tri-directional), with binder options (PVOH, PVC, Acrylic, or customized) to suit skin laminating and sandwich-press processes. The chemically bonded construction delivers lightweight, high strength, low shrinkage/elongation, and corrosion resistance, allowing the board to handle flex, impact, and UV/wet exposure without adding unnecessary weight.
Non-woven laid scrims Characteristics
Kiteboard-Grade Property Profile: Dimensional stability, tensile strength, alkali resistance, tear resistance, fire resistance, anti-microbial properties, water resistance — the scrim's low elongation keeps the foil–composite skin flat through constant flex and hard landings, while multi-directional tensile arrests crack initiation at rail edges, insert zones, and fin-box areas. Every gram counts on a rider's board; the scrim's low added weight preserves swing weight and pop response.
High Strength & Light Weight: Available in a range of regular mesh sizes and grammages covering the platform's common specifications (including fine to coarse grids, with typical grammages such as 6.5g, 8g, 13g, 15.5g per square meter, etc.), delivering high tensile and tear resistance at minimal added weight. Fully bondable with almost any skin/core material; each roll length up to 50,000 m to support continuous board laminating and sandwich lines.

Non-woven laid scrims Application
Primary Use: Reinforcement for Kiteboard Sandwich Composites
The core application of this kiteboard-grade laid scrim is as the hidden tensile grid laminated into the skin stack of kiteboards — and by extension the same Sports platform also serves sail laminates, table tennis rackets, and the sandwich technology of skis and snowboards. It is sandwiched into the board build to:
Resist Flex Fatigue & Impact Tearing
Kiteboards see aggressive flex, chop landings, and rail/bash impacts. The scrim's multi-directional tensile reinforces the skin–core interface so delamination doesn't start at heel dents, rail dings, or insert stresses — extending board life under pro-level abuse.
Keep Swing Weight Low
The scrim adds meaningful tensile reinforcement at very low GSM, keeping the total board weight down — directly protecting pop, swing feel, and air-time, which are the defining metrics of kiteboard design.
Enable High-Efficiency Laminating Across the Sports Category
50,000 m roll length feeds high-speed laminating and sandwich lines with fewer splice stops — higher yield per shift, more consistent batch appearance across kiteboard, ski/snowboard, and racket programs.
Secondary Applications
a) Aluminum Foil Composite
Nove-woven laid scrim is widely applied in aluminium foil industry. It can help manufacture to develop the production efficiency as the roll length can reach 10000m. It also makes the finished product with better apperance.
b) PVC Flooring
PVC Flooring is mainly made of PVC,also other necessary chemical material during manufacture. It is produced by calendering, extrusion progress or other manufacture progress, it is devided into PVC Sheet Floor and PVC Roller Floor. Now all major domestic and foreign manufactures are applying it as the reinforcement layer to avoiding the joint or bulge between pieces, which is caused by the heat expansion and contraction of materials.
c) None-woven category products reinforced
None-woven laid scrim is widely used as reinforced materail on kinds none-woven fabric, such as fiberglass tissue, polyester mat, wipes, also some top ends, such as medical paper. It can makes none-woven products with higher tensile strength, while just add very little unit weight.
d) PVC Tarpaulin
Laid scrim can be used as basic materials to produce truck cover, light awning, banner, sail cloth etc.
Due to lightweight, high strength, low shrinkage/elongation, corrosion preventive, laid scrims offers tremendous value compared to conventional material concepts. And it's easily to laminate with many kinds of materials, this makes it has an extensive fields of applications.
