    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Brief Introduction

This product is a composite reinforcement substrate centered on Fiberglass (or Polyester) Laid Scrim, where the scrim is integrated with mat, tissue, or veil layers — engineered as the reinforcement skeleton for roofing waterproof membranes (modified bitumen SBS/APP, TPO, PVC, EPDM, and asphalt overlay systems). It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous filament yarns (glass, polyester, carbon, etc.) into an open mesh (square or tri-directional), and delivered either as standalone scrim or pre-combined with fiberglass tissue / polyester mat / veil to form a composite carrier. Compared with using mat alone, adding the scrim layer gives the membrane multi-directional tensile, puncture resistance during installation, and dimensional stability under torch-applied heat, hot-melt paving, and temperature cycles — all critical for flat-roof, podium-deck, and below-grade waterproofing.

    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Characteristics

Roofing-Composite Adapted Properties: When run in E-glass, the scrim portion carries — high tenacity, alkali resistance, dimensional stability, flexible, low shrinkage, low elongation, fire resistance, corrosion resistance (per the page's "Fiberglass Laid Scrims Characteristics"). When the scrim is composited with tissue/veil/mat, the mat side gives surface finesse for bitumen/coating bite, while the scrim core gives multidirectional tensile and tear-arrest — a combination that survives torch application, foot traffic, and substrate movement on premium roofing jobs.

Composite-Ready & Process Compatible: The scrim can be delivered standalone or pre-laminated to tissue/mat/veil, matching bitumen saturation lines, TPO/PVC calenders, and asphalt-overlay lines. Roll width 200–2,500 mm; platform roll length up to 50,000 m, regular supply logic 10,000 m/roll — "it can help manufacture to develop the production efficiency as the roll length can reach 10000m"(page wording, echoed from the aluminium foil logic and equally applicable to roofing composite converters).

    Fiberglass Laid Scrims Application

Primary Use: Reinforcement for Roofing Waterproof Membranes (Modified Bitumen / TPO-PVC-EPDM / Asphalt Overlay)

The core and specialized application of this scrim (and its composite-with-mat/tissue/veil variant) is as the tensile and dimensional-stabilizing skeleton inside roofing membranes for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure waterproofing. It is laminated between mat/tissue/veil layers, or as the central carrier in a composite carrier stack, to:

Resist Tear & Puncture During Installation

Roofing membranes are walked on, kicked by boot heels, and torched with heat guns. The scrim (especially in composite-with-mat form) arrests tear initiation and distributes puncture stress so the membrane does not split when crews are welding seams or detailing flashing.

Maintain Dimensional Stability Under Heat & Temperature Cycles

Modified bitumen is torch-applied; TPO/PVC go through oven calendering. The scrim's low elongation and low shrinkage keep the membrane from cupping, wrinkling, or drifting at lap edges as the sheet heats, cools, and seasons — preserving flatness and lap-seal integrity on flat roofs and podium decks.

Enable Composite Carrier Flexibility (Mat + Scrim + Veil)

By integrating scrim with tissue/veil/mat, the converter gets a carrier that balances surface finesse (veil/tissue side for coating bite), core strength (scrim), and back-side toughness (mat) — a common build for premium SBS/APP modified bitumen and reinforced TPO.

    Secondary Applications

Per the product page, fiberglass (and its composite) laid scrim of this platform is also extensively applied in:

    Aluminum Foil Composite

Non-woven laid scrim is widely applied in aluminium foil industry. It can help manufacture to develop the production efficiency as the roll length can reach 10000m. It also makes the finished product with better appearance.

    PVC Flooring

PVC Flooring is mainly made of PVC, also other necessary chemical material during manufacture, Now all major domestic and foreign manufactures are applying it as the reinforcement layer to avoiding the joint or bulge between pieces, which is caused by the heat expansion and contraction of materials.

    PVC Tarpaulin

Laid scrim can be used as basic materials to produce truck cover, light awning, banner, sail cloth etc.
