Fiber glass laid scrims for aluminum foil insulation laminated composites for outdoor sports
Fiberglass Laid Scrims Brief Introduction
This product is a Fiberglass Laid Scrim, a cost-effective, open-mesh reinforcement fabric engineered for aluminum foil insulation laminated composites used in outdoor sports equipment — including sail laminates, kiteboards, table tennis rackets, and ski/snowboard sandwich structures where a lightweight, dimensionally stable "S" layer is needed between foil, non-woven, or composite skins. It is manufactured by chemically bonding continuous E-glass filament yarns into a flat-laid open mesh (square or tri-directional), with binder options (PVOH, PVC, Acrylic, or customized) to match foil–non-woven lamination, prepreg stacking, and sandwich-panel processing common to sports-equipment mills.
Fiberglass Laid Scrims Characteristics
Outdoor-Sports Composite Grade Glass Properties: Dimensional stability, tensile strength, alkali resistance, tear resistance, fire resistance, anti-microbial properties, water resistance — the E-glass scrim survives the laminating heat of sandwich-panel lines and the long-term flex/impact/temperature cycles of outdoor sports gear (skis, kiteboards, sails), while its low elongation keeps the foil–composite stack from cupping or delaminating under load.
High Strength & Light Weight: The scrim is available in a range of regular mesh sizes and grammages (covering common specifications from coarse to fine grids, e.g. 12.5×12.5 / 10×10 / 6.25×6.25 / 5×5 mm and rectangular 12.5×6.25 mm, with regular supply grams 6.5g / 8g / 13g / 15.5g etc.), delivering high tensile and tear resistance at minimal added weight. It can be fully bonded with almost any material, and each roll length can be 10,000 meters (platform up to 50,000 m).
Long Rolls for Composite / Sandwich Lines: Roll width 200–2,500 mm; roll length up to 50,000 m. Fewer splices per shift on high-speed laminating and sandwich-panel lines feeding outdoor-sports equipment mills, fewer weak spots in finished composite rolls.

Fiberglass Laid Scrims Application
Primary Use: Reinforcement for Aluminum Foil Insulation Laminated Composites in Outdoor Sports Equipment
The core application of this fiberglass laid scrim is as the hidden "S" layer laminated into aluminum foil insulation composites used across the Outdoor Sports category — specifically sail laminates, table tennis rackets, kiteboards, and the sandwich technology of skis and snowboards. It is sandwiched into the composite stack (foil / scrim / non-woven / skin) to:
Add Dimensional Stability & Tear Resistance to Lightweight Sandwiches
Ski/snowboard and kiteboard cores are thin sandwich builds where any in-plane shear or impact can wrinkle the skin or delaminate the foil layer. The scrim's multi-directional tensile and low elongation keep the foil–composite face flat and bonded through flex cycles, while adding negligible weight to the final gear.
Serve Sail & Racket Foil Laminates
In sail laminates and racket facings where aluminum foil or metallized films are part of the skin stack, the scrim acts as the tensile grid that prevents the foil from tearing under flutter, batten load, or string impact — extending gear life in outdoor cycling.
Enable High-Efficiency Laminating
10,000 m roll length (platform 50,000 m) feeds high-speed laminating and sandwich lines with fewer splice stops — higher yield per shift, more consistent batch appearance on finished composite sheets.
Secondary Applications
a) Aluminum Foil Composite
Nove-woven laid scrim is widely applied in aluminium foil industry. It can help manufacture to develop the production efficiency as the roll length can reach 10000m. It also makes the finished product with better apperance.
b) PVC Flooring
PVC Flooring is mainly made of PVC,also other necessary chemical material during manufacture. It is produced by calendering, extrusion progress or other manufacture progress, it is devided into PVC Sheet Floor and PVC Roller Floor. Now all major domestic and foreign manufactures are applying it as the reinforcement layer to avoiding the joint or bulge between pieces, which is caused by the heat expansion and contraction of materials.
c) None-woven category products reinforced
None-woven laid scrim is widely used as reinforced materail on kinds none-woven fabric, such as fiberglass tissue, polyester mat, wipes, also some top ends, such as medical paper. It can makes none-woven products with higher tensile strength, while just add very little unit weight.
d) PVC Tarpaulin
Laid scrim can be used as basic materials to produce truck cover, light awning, banner, sail cloth etc.
